Cold Storage Triathlon 2012 [A2.

From this year Singapore Triathlon sponsor has been changed form OSIM to Cold Strage. It means from massage chair company to supermarket. Anyway this change doesn't mean anything to me, finisher T-shirts is not cool, though.

I was so nervous last year since it was first time for me. However, this is my 4th triathlon already. I could be relax and enjoy this time.

The order of the starting waves were changed from senior guys priority to young guys one. So I had to queue in the last wave...(cry).  Anyway let energetic young guys go first.

Swimming was fun. I started at the last row. Nobody disturbed me. Since I do a breast stroke, I can see the situation what is happening. Ended up for 44 minutes for 1.5km . Not bad.

The transisiton is enjoyable moment. I changed my swim shits to cycle/running shirts, took helmet/cycle gloves and wore socks/shoes. And took a water/enegy gels. It took me 6 minutes for this transition.

Okay, now Cycling. It was 4 laps for 40km last year, but today it was 6 laps. It was very congested with cyclist in the narrow road. Never mind, let's keep 30km/hour pace. I should be careful at the turning corner, since I crashed the wall last year. Ended up for 1 hour and 31 minutes (it meas 27km/hour...).

Taking out the helmet/gloves, having a running cap on and taking a water/energy gel, I started running.

This is toughest category since temprature was already high at noon timing. So far it took me 2 hours and 25minutes. I should complete my 10km running within one our and five minutes. If so, I can complete triathlon within 3 hours and half. It would be better than last triathlon.  Luckily it was not hot because of haze.

Uhmm, couldn't speed up, lah. Already somehow exhasuted. It took me one hour and 13 minutes. Ended up for three hours and thirty eight minutes...

Anyway OK lah, it was fun. I enjoyed a lot. Thank you.

Golf Champion [A3.

Besides running, I do golf a quite often. However my score couldn't share my golf activity to anybody though I have around twenty years experience.

I hope that today's result can be shared. I won the inter company competition thanks to the lenient handycap.

Believe that anything you can imagin, you can make real.

Work from Conference [人事5-CSR・健康経営・人事部・労務]

The agenda of the conference that I receive from the invitation like "How to build a strong team in this complex world?" from various institues always attracts me.

However, it is difficult to get a good insight about that theme in the most of the case. Some of the speeches or panel discussions are really boring. The panelists do often not reply the right answer for the question from the audience.

So I stop to listen and do "work form conference" blaming myself saying "why did I choose to attend this conference?".

Actually I'm writing this article in the conference ballroom.

But some key words like "diversity, glbalization, digital world and Gene-Y" stimulate my brain to think about that subject. This also encourages my work from conference.

Now I can figure out what is the real role of the conference like HR summit or management conference. This plays a "catalysit". I shouldn't  try to get the answer or the solution. The conference gives me a time to think about the particular subject which I have chosen.

If the contents of the speech or panel discussion are very useful or eye-opening, your knowledge of that topic in the conference is very little. You should read more books about this topics before you spend a lot of money to attend.

So if you want to think about something by yourself, please go to the conference so that you can spend a fruitful time.

Yellow Ribbon Prison Run 2012 [A1.

It was a tough running course which had a lot of up and down hills. And I saw the inside of Changi prison at first time. It took me one hours and 1min. Zip 12914.

【Wikipedia】 The custom of tying a yellow ribbon around a tree to symbolize waiting love seems to go back at least as far as the days of Nero. A recently unearthed villa (thought to be that of Nero's wife) in Pompeii and covered by the Vesuvius eruption of 79 CE contains a mural depicting a man standing at a tree with a yellow ribbon tied around it.

Nowadays, The yellow ribbon is used for various symbolic purposes. It is often worn on one's person or tied around a tree.

During the Iran hostage crisis, the yellow ribbon was used a symbol of support for the hostages held at the United States embassy in Tehran.  Japan's Medal of Honor uses a yellow ribbon to acknowledge professionals who have become public role models.   In Malaysia, the yellow ribbon is used as a symbol of "Press Freedom".

In Singapore, the government has initiated an annual Yellow Ribbon campaign, through the Yellow Ribbon Project, to promote giving ex-convicts a second chance in society. Typically, a person shows his support for ex-convicts by pinning a yellow ribbon on his shirt during the annual campaign held in September. This was probably influenced by its use as a symbol of acceptance in the song "Tie A Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree" as stated above.

The Yellow Ribbon Project (Chinese: 黄丝带计划) started in 2004, is a Yellow Ribbon community-based program of the CARE Network in Singapore aimed at reintegrating ex-prisoners into society.  It was reported that by 2008 through awareness of the program in Singapore, 560 new employers had registered to offer jobs for ex-offenders.
